A profound Andean healing ceremony — the Limpia (spiritual cleansing) is one of the oldest and most essential rituals in Andean medicine. Led exclusively by Wayra in Quechua, this ceremony removes negative energy, restores balance, and realigns your connection with Pachamama and the Apus. This is not a spiritual performance. It is a genuine healing practice that Andean communities have used for thousands of years.

Using sacred plants (muña, ruda, roses), eggs, guinea pig feathers, incense, and Andean minerals, Wayra performs a full-body energy cleansing on each participant individually — diagnosing and clearing blockages through touch, sound (whistling in Quechua), and sacred plant smoke. The Limpia has been used for millennia to address physical ailments, emotional blockages, life transitions, and spiritual disconnection. Wayra has performed hundreds of Limpias — for his own family, for community members, and for select travelers who approach the tradition with genuine respect and openness.

Each ceremony is completely personal and unique. Maximum 6 participants. This is an intimate healing experience — not a group show. Only available with Wayra Adventures.

Ceremony Schedule

09:00 AM Hotel pickup in Cusco
Small group pickup from your hotel. Private transport to the sacred ceremony site above Cusco — a quiet outdoor space chosen by Wayra for its energetic significance in the Andean tradition.
09:30 AM Opening prayers & coca leaf reading
Wayra opens the sacred space with prayers to the Apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama in Quechua. He then performs an individual coca leaf reading for each participant — interpreting the leaves to understand your current energetic state, what you are carrying, and what the ceremony should focus on. This is your personal diagnosis before the cleansing begins.
10:30 AM Individual Limpias
The heart of the ceremony. Wayra performs a full individual Limpia for each participant using sacred plants (muña, ruda, roses), eggs, guinea pig feathers, incense, and Andean minerals. Working through touch, Quechua whistling, and sacred plant smoke, he identifies and clears energetic blockages across the body. Each individual cleansing takes 15–20 minutes. While waiting, other participants rest quietly, meditate, or observe — the atmosphere is calm and unhurried throughout.
12:30 PM Closing ceremony & integration
Wayra formally closes the sacred space with final prayers and gratitude to Pachamama and the Apus. The group gathers to share experiences — what they felt, saw, or understood during their cleansing. Wayra then offers personal guidance for each participant based on what he observed: what he found, what was released, and how to carry the energy of the ceremony forward into daily life.
13:00 PM Return to Cusco
Private transport back to your hotel. Many participants prefer a quiet afternoon after the ceremony — rest, reflection, and time alone are a natural part of the integration process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Limpia actually do?

In Andean tradition, a Limpia removes heavy energy — known in Quechua as hucha — that accumulates through stress, trauma, difficult life events, or spiritual disconnection. This energy is understood to settle in the body and disrupt physical, emotional, and spiritual balance. The Limpia dislodges and clears it. Participants often report feeling lighter, clearer, and more at peace after the ceremony. Effects can be subtle or profound depending on the individual — some feel a shift immediately, others in the days that follow.

Do I need to believe in Andean healing for it to work?

No. Wayra welcomes skeptics and believers equally — he has performed Limpias for people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and dispositions. The only requirement is genuine respect for the tradition and openness to the experience. Approaching the ceremony with curiosity rather than cynicism is enough. What you receive from it will be your own.

Is this the same as a Pago a la Tierra?

They are different but deeply complementary practices. A Limpia cleanses and heals the individual — it works inward, removing what no longer serves you. A Pago a la Tierra (despacho) makes an offering outward, to Pachamama and the Apus, in gratitude and reciprocity. Think of the Limpia as clearing space within you, and the Pago as filling that space with gratitude and connection. Wayra often recommends experiencing both, and can arrange both ceremonies in the same visit for those who wish to go deeper.

What should I expect to feel during the ceremony?

Everyone’s experience is different. Some participants feel warmth, tingling, or emotional release during the cleansing. Some feel a deep calm descend. Others feel little during the ceremony itself but notice a shift in mood, sleep quality, or mental clarity in the days that follow. There is no «correct» experience — the ceremony meets each person where they are. Wayra will explain what he observed and felt during your individual Limpia, which often resonates in unexpected ways.

Why is the maximum only 6 participants?

Because each Limpia is performed individually and requires Wayra’s full attention and presence. A genuine healing ceremony cannot be rushed or diluted. With more than 6 participants, the quality and depth of each individual cleansing would be compromised. Wayra has made a deliberate choice to keep this intimate — it is not a show for large groups. If you are traveling with a larger party, please contact us to discuss options.

Is this available every day?

Yes, subject to Wayra’s availability. We ask that you book at least 48 hours in advance so that ceremonial preparations can be made properly. If you have flexibility in your schedule, Wayra is happy to advise on the most auspicious dates according to the Andean calendar — certain days carry stronger energetic significance and are traditionally preferred for healing ceremonies.

Is photography allowed during the ceremony?

Wayra asks that phones and cameras remain put away during the active ceremony out of respect for the sacred space and for the other participants. Brief photography before and after the ceremony is welcome. This is a healing experience, not a content opportunity — and participants consistently find that being fully present, without the instinct to document, makes the experience far richer.

Is a Limpia appropriate for children?

Yes. In Andean communities, children receive Limpias regularly — it is considered a normal and beneficial part of life, not something reserved for adults in crisis. Children often respond very openly to the ceremony. Parental presence and consent are required for any participant under 18. If you are bringing young children, please mention this when booking so Wayra can adapt the pacing accordingly.
